Tie a Half-Windsor Knot

HOW TO...

Tie a Single/Half-Windsor Knot

A Half-Windsor Knot is one of the most popular ways of tying a necktie, and it usually comes out in the form of a neat, triangular knot. It is derived from the Windsor Knot, as it works well with light to medium-weight fabrics. Here is a very simple way of making one of this lovely knot in just a few seconds, so just grab your tie and let's go!

  • Step One: Begin with placing the tie around your neck, with the wide end on the left side, and the narrow end on your right. The wide end should be about twelve (12) inches longer than the narrow end.

  • Step Two: Use your fingers to hold both sides, as you cross the wide end over the narrow end.

  • Step Three: Wrap the wide end around and behind the narrow end. You should now see the wide end on the left side, with the back of the tie facing forward.

  • Step Four: Lift the wide end, so that the back of the tie is directly in your face, and pull that right through the little loop, and place it to the left. Once again, the back of the tie should be facing forward.

  • Step Five: Wrap the wide end around the narrow end, from left to right. Lift the wide end, so that the front side is facing you, and bring it through the loop once more.

  • Step Six: After pulling it through, gently pull the narrow end downwards, until you can place the knot comfortably up to your collar.

For reference, you can always look at the image below.

Congrats if you have got it right. Feel free to pull it put and try again! For those that did get it, you may want to try again. If you still can't get it, and you have a problem with the instructions, please don't hesitate to place a comment or question. Thank you for reading, and I hope you now have the joy of being able to tie your own knot. Peace out.
